Legacy Giving

Leave your mark on Gahanna!

Planned Giving at Gahanna Parks and Recreation Foundation

What Will Your Legacy Be?

Planned giving (also called legacy giving) is a meaningful way to support the future of parks, trails, programs, and community spaces that will enrich Gahanna for generations to come. These thoughtful gifts are arranged during your lifetime and realized in the future — often as part of estate planning — and can provide lasting benefits to both you, your family, and the community.

Whether you want to support children’s programs and scholarships, aquatics programming, preserve natural green spaces, enrich the parks and playgrounds, enhance trail systems, or strengthen community events, a planned gift helps ensure that the Foundation’s work is sustained long into the future.

Why Planned Giving Matters

Planned gifts empower you to leave a legacy that reflects your values and commitment to Gahanna’s vibrant parks and recreation offerings. Unlike annual donations, legacy gifts often make a larger impact, and many offer tax advantages for you and your heirs as part of thoughtful estate planning.

Whether you choose a simple bequest or a more structured gift, your support helps the Foundation plan for the long-term — sustaining programs and projects that benefit families, visitors, and neighbors for decades.

Ways You Can Give

Here are some of the most common planned giving options. Each provides a way to support the Foundation’s mission while potentially offering financial benefits for you or your loved ones:

Bequests in Your Will or Trust

Include the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or living trust. This is one of the simplest and most common ways to make a legacy gift and allows you flexibility to adjust your plans over time.

Life Insurance Gifts

You can designate the Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or transfer ownership of an existing policy. This allows you to make a significant gift with minimal current cost.

Charitable Remainder Trusts & Other Planned Gifts

There are additional options, such as charitable remainder trusts or pooled income funds, which can offer income and tax advantages while benefiting Gahanna parks in the long term.

Retirement Account Beneficiary Designation

Name the Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement account. This method can help reduce income and estate taxes and ensures your retirement assets make a lasting impact.

Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity lets you make a gift now in exchange for fixed income for life, with the remainder supporting the Foundation after your lifetime.

Recognition

Long-term and monthly donors will be recognized in a mutually agreed upon manner.
